Please accept my condolences Perry. I'm a cat person myself and have lost 4 so far.  Each one hurt. The only reason I keep getting more is, I feel a responsibility as a good pet owner to help as many cats as I can from being put to sleep in shelters b/c of overcrowding.  That Rainbow Bridge story makes me cry every time I read it.

Sorry to hear Perry. Lost our beloved Mastiff almost a year ago. He was only 6 yrs. old and had bone cancer. We made the difficult choice to put him down. He was my buddy and got me through quite a few hard years lately. Nothing like our furry friends. Now we have three dogs to share the love with!

Our sincere condolences over the loss of your loyal loving family member. Our health 10 year old male Lab died suddenly this September and there are still times when I glance over and expect him at his feeding bowl. I'm sure he's at Rainbow Bridge carrying his favorite toy around and making friends with your dog.

So sorry Perry and Pam.  When my girl left me, someone special sent me the below, I hope it helps.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent. Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....  - - Author unknown -
