Ridley Park's Online Digital Community
The National Weather Service in Mt Holly NJ has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Ridley Park as a major winter storm, named Jonas, looks certain to impact our borough late Friday afternoon through Saturday night.
NOAA forecasters have a high confidence that a major winter storm will hit our area but a lower confidence in the exact details at this time.
A low pressure tracking across the Tennessee valley Thursday into Friday is forecast to redevelop and strengthen off the mid Atlantic coast late Friday. As the storm rapidly intensifies into a major winter storm Saturday, it will track northeastward and away from our area into Sunday.
Regardless of the upcoming details, accumulating snow is expected in Ridley Park along with high gusting winds to 35 mph.
The nature of this storm should produce large swaths of very heavy snow and strong winds which will quickly create hazardous conditions on the roadways. Accumulations of heavy wet snow will stick to trees and power lines and in combination with strong winds could cause power outages. Strong winds if combined with dry snow will result in considerable blowing and drifting.
RPOL will continue to keep our members updated as the storm develops or deteriorates.
