The Missing Borough Calendar - CALENDAR-GATE

Did anyone get the Borough's official calendar deliverd to their home?  Seems that the calendars came to the borough in January, but the promise by Paul Matus and Bob Berger that they would be delivered to all residents did not happen.  I did receive my copy of the Ridley News Calendar though.   Paul brought a motion to Council in the October meeting to remove the Ridley News Calendar as the official borough calendar.  This motion was quickly brought up by Paul and just as quickly seconded by Bob Berger to vote.  Paul's biggest reason for having the Ridley New's Calendar removed was because the highway department was being used to transport /deliver them the past few years.  A decision that the past Borough Manager brought up as a suggestion in 2011.  The funding for the highway delivery would come from the sewer monies that were to be returned to the brough by the sewer authority back then.  Jim Glenn then stated at that same October meeting that he remembered a past meeting where Charlie Maurone came into a meeting an demanded this agreement to deliver.  It is funny that no one else remembers this happening, including Charlie Maurone.  The five councilors who voted on this motion to remove the Ridley News Calendar must be wondering why they voted when we were promised the new calendars were to be delivered to all residents with no cost to the borough.  It is now March and no calendar to most of the residents.  Smelling like a purely political manure move, I brought to everyones attention that Mr. Micarelli and Mr. Boland , the Republican leader of Ridley Park orchestrated this October motion and five councilors acted like puppets to make it happen.  Amazing how a State Representative meddles in local government.

In January, the calendars arrived at the borough, by mistake, according to an office employee and then the calendars were placed in the back of one of the highway trucks and delivered to a parking lot on Chester Pike across from Leedom Elementary School.  Remember, Paul said the borough would have no financial obligation to this new calendar and no borough employee would be involved in transporting or delivering the new calendar.  This information was given personally to me by a highway employee.  I brought it up at the February council meeting and no one knew anything about it.  Or they at least denied knowing anything about it.   I questioned the two people who might know about this and have been getting the silent treatment and suggestions that I should stop asking about this issue.  I will continue to pursue this issue and find out who is lying and why.  It is amazing how a mere turning up of the heat on some people gets them shaking in their shoes especially when it comes to telling the truth.

I only got the "official" calendar. I never received the Ridley News one.

I like the new calendar a lot more than the old one. The other one looked home made or something. It was weird.

Excellent Jared. I got my letter yesterday and kind of got half sick. He takes credit for things that he really hasn't done. He really has surprised me. I thought he was going to be a lot different than what he is.

How true you are, funny ! I recieved the same in the mail, our household got a good laugh out of it. It is a total disgrace how someone that is elected to do right for the people by the people can be so wrong on so many levels. His bringing up 2011 is a ''SHAM" just like the "Mighty Midget 5" that we have.

What great timing;  Yesterday I received in the mail a community letter from State Representative Nick Micarelli's office.  I think it was a letter telling us all that HE is doing for the borough.  That lasted one paragraph, a total of three sentences.  A balanced budget should be the requirement / law for every government entity, so why is it a trophy?  It is your job as a representative of the people to keep the financial records balanced.  No new taxes is a great accomplishment, but is it because it is an election year?  The Representative's letter then proceeded with five paragraphs about the Borough Council and Mayor.  Many of the accomplishments occurred in 2011.  Isn't it 2013 ?  Also, isn't this an article for the ridley Park Borough "Status Report" to articulate?  What are you doing for the Borough of Ridley Park and other boroughs that you are the Representative for?  Where are the grants, funds for borough projects, etc.... Ironically?,  I see that the Ridley Park Borough's Status Report has several pictures of Mr. Micarelli in it.  Personally, I'd like to see Mr. Micarelli's picture with a report on what he is proactively doing for our borough, not just his picture!  The borough of Ridley Park could really use some money to dredge the lake this coming year... Hint hint!

I'm amazed that our state tax dollars are spent on newsletters that contain 85% on the borough's achievements and only 15% on what the State Representative is doing for us.  15% is being modest and stretching it a little bit.  Maybe we could combine the two taxes and eliminate one?  We may as well since one is supporting the other and vice versa.

Just another one of my observations!

Thank you Jared.

@Jared: thank you for facts, details and answers surrounding "Calender-Gate. Plain simple truths are easier to understand - it's the political machine mentality I have difficulty swallowing. I have Charlie's calendar and that's sufficient for my household.  I'll let everyone know if and when the other Ridley Park calender arrives.

Thank-you Jared for bringing "TRANSPARENCY" to Ridley Park borough residents.  As you know there are a lot of good people in the borough that support you in what you are doing for all of us.  Ridley Park will continue to be a great place to raise a family because of you & your efforts.

Keep at it Jared.

That was awesome Jared. I love the way you tell the truth and the other 5 twits just sit there. We have to get rid of them.
