Lentz bill would prevent double-dipping political officeholders

This excellent new law proposed by Bryan Lentz I would hope would also apply to state representatives holding onto borough council seats as absentees long after their election to state office as happened in Ridley Park in 2009.

Delco Times Editorial Dec. 9:
Editorial: Pols should not hold two elected offices

In a move clearly designed to embarrass one of his fellow lawmakers from Delaware County, state Rep. Bryan Lentz, D-161 of Swarthmore, is proposing a new law that would forbid state legislators from holding more than one elected office at a time.

"I am concerned that an individual holding two elected offices cannot give either office the attention it deserves, thereby shortchanging the people they have been elected to serve," said Lentz.

You make some good points Kevin. Constituent service is primary for both those jobs. Daycare is an important health & safety issue

This law is an excellent idea and long overdue.
The nonsense of Nick Micarelli being in two offices and then not serving either for most of the time was a joke. He was and is inept, is a phoney, and is just interetsed in padding his political resume and wallet.
He was also ineffectual when he was supposedly doing some political work.
He personally TWICE (I had to call his former boss our previous state rep to get him to look into the matter again...too bad his boss left office to soon) took a complaint from me about an unlicensed day care facility in Ridley Park (as of Novemebr it was still being operated) both as an RP council memeber and a state rep, and did nothing to address it or get back to me despite having plenty of time before leaving. Typical two-faced and in this case two-jobbed politician.
