I caught the end of the farmers market, how was the beginning?

Seems like many vendors had closed up by the time we got there at 6, and I hope that won't always happen!  It was nice to be there and see the people, to hear the live music, sample some wine, and talk to people.

Well if the vendors left early it's surely better that they did so because they sold out than because there was too little custom!  I thought prices for the produce were pretty reasonable, not in the gourmet exhorbitant range I tend to see at the Swarthmore market on Saturdays.

As the vendors for the wine said, to me "at the last farmer's market we sold 10 bottles - today we sold over 10 cases!"  Many of the vendors had sold out of their goods which is why they packed up, but had said they would be better prepared next week!  All in all I thought the turn out was wonderful, the produce delicious and cannot wait until next week to complete my shopping list!

Ridley Parkers came out by the hundreds to shop.  Many vendors were were not finished setting. up by 3:45PM and shoppers were in line with goods and their cash in hand. Big Sky Bread had mouth watering breads and granola; yummy. The fellows brought one and a half times the number of loafs they would normal sell at farmer's markers and by 5PM they were sold down to only crumbs. There was great community support and folks stocked up. As the season goes on I'm sure they will be adjustments in how much the vendors bring. Today the vendors motto was "take it to Ridley Park and they will buy it."
