Perhaps some of you see these little treasures regularly, but we were surprised to see a pair last evening. Are they common/seen where you live in Ridley Park? I can count on one hand the number of hummingbirds I've seen in 25 years.

We grow Cardinal Climber (a vine with red trumpet flowers) and they visit all the time! They love it!

I said I haven't seen many, but I meant not many HERE. Last fall I visited my sister in San Diego, and there many people have feeders out and you can see whole bunches of the birds fighting over a spot to sip nectar. It sure is funny to see so many of a thing that seems rare to you!

I'm so glad you said that, I thought I was unobservant or something b/c I've only seen about 5 in my entire life. Plus, the first two I saw, I thought they were really big bugs. We have the kind of flowers that are supposed to attract them.

I have had several hummingbirds this summer and past summers. You have to pay attention because they are so fast. I probably have missed them before.
