The one thing I find remarkable about snow is the beauty and contrast of it against the bright blue, almost blinding sky afterwards. The snow itself casts a monochromatic veil over a landscape, deadening every sound, including the wind. It covers all scars upon the land and adds elegance to even the most rusted, distorted structures. It's really quite remarkable how nature, seemingly bothered by our indifference to her daily efforts, decides she wants us to see the landscape once again as she intended, devoid of the harshness man has placed on the land. She covers it with a pure layer of beauty and, when ready, she lifts the veil to reveal that which has inspired so many for so long.
What a wonderful way to bring 2009 to a close and usher in the New Year.
A safe and Happy New Year to all!
