Borough Council still working out budget kinks

Council Finance Chairman Suzanne Murtha, at last week’s meeting, said the final budget for 2010 is still being worked on and council hopes it can be passed at its Feb. 2 workshop meeting.



Council President Bob Berger read a statement at the meeting in which he contends the borough accounts were nearly $20,000 in arrears when the new council was officially sworn in on Jan. 4. He said in December the previous council announced there would be a tax decrease in 2010.

Carole Nasella is Borough Manager

Carole Nasella was appointed borough manager at Tuesday night’s council meeting. She will also serve as secretary/treasurer. Nasella succeeds Terry Bradley, who served two years in that post.



A lifelong resident of the borough, Nasella is 51, a graduate of Ridley High School and earned a paralegal certificate from Penn State University. She also took classes at Widener University.…

Pipe Bomb Robber still at large

Police are still looking for a man who used the threat of a bomb to steal $1,000 from a Ridley Park bank last week.



The robbery took place shortly after 9 a.m. on Dec. 30 at the M&T Bank on E. Hinckley Avenue.



"A black male entered the bank and went to a teller with a note that read he had a bomb and wanted money put into a bag," Ridley Park police said in a statement.

2010 Ridley Park Borough Council

The swearing-in ceremonies on the second floor of Ridley Park's Athletic Club were brief and to the point. A loved one or family held the bible while Judge Jack Lippart presided over the transformations from citizen to borough official. Robert's Rules of Order were adopted and the nominations votes were decided:
