2010 Member Contribution Awards and Most Popular

It's been a marvelous first full year on the Internet for RidleyParkOnline, and how fast this year went by! With no road map, no how-to manuals, and only new directions in front of us, in 2010 RidleyParkOnline grew to become a hub of member contributed local news and discussions focused on Ridley Park. As a nontraditional hyperlocal news source, all our our news and events are 'Parker' contributed and Ridley Park focused; thus the term "hyperlocal." Unlike traditional news outlets where the…

Snow Emergency Preparations for Ridley Park

During the Snow Emergency throughout Ridley Park we want to renew the Borough's request to remove as many cars as possible from the streets during the snow storm. Moving your vehicles off the streets will allow our Highway Department trucks and plows easier access to our neighborhoods' streets and plowing will be more efficient.

For emergencies, dial 911 for… Continue

Ridley Park residents participate in Flashmob!

Last evening the Clemmer family, along with a bunch of other people, participated in a Flashmob at 30th Street Station.  At 7:20 we stealthily met, then perpetrated our choir in the main area of the station.  You can see from the link below that we had fun and made some people smile.

Many thanks to Josiah Krawiec, choir director at Ridley HS (and Ridley High alum) for organizing the event and the two rehearsals that helped us prepare!

December 2010, Borough Council Meeting

Berger said the money was deposited in the borough's capital reserve account.

Big headache from little snow

By 4 o'clock this afternoon there was a light dusting of snow on Sellers Avenue and a bumper to bumper line of cars in front of my house. The line started around 3PM and hasn't ended since.

Considering Ridley Park had over 80 inches of snow last year and was the 2010 Snow Capitol of Philadelphia, a coating to around an inch of snow should not seem much, or too…

Ridley Park Christmas Tree Recycling

Phila. Airport Expansion-More jobs for workers.

Reading the article about the Phila. airport expansion, it touched on a good subject about new jobs coming into the region. It was interesting to see that there would be more people employed by this project. They are talking about 4,000 jobs being created. With unemployment at 9.5% in PA., I would think this would help our whole economy in this area. I have watched people from the Phila. region go to college and after graduating they leave the area because there are few jobs in this area.…
