What's happened to the Gas Light??

The economy has taken its toll on the restaurant business and our Gas Light is no exception. It breaks my heart to see this historic and meaningful Ridley park landmark crumble right before our very eyes. It needs a major face lift and general, regular maintenance to the inside and out is long over due. The window displays are discheveled and unsightly and it's beginning to look very rundown. To the Owners, if would do a little maintenance and get some sort of music in the bar area, we will…

Here it comes!

I just got the official release date for my book: November 23, 2010! This is the moment any writer waits for. I will be planning all my events for around this area, to be held over the next few months, now! This is more than exciting. And I know that nothing is possible without the support of the people from your town! The backing of anyone that values promoting literacy amongst small children, and/or books in general, is equally important.

I can't wait to meet all of you. And, I… Continue

Ridley Park Borough Council talks trash

When it came to talking trash at November's Borough Council meeting, Ridley Park Borough Council member Samantha Snow uttered four words that few politicians can parse together in one sentence after an election; "increased services for less cost."

Without a slip of the tongue, Snow first praised the members of the Trash and Recycle Committee for… Continue

McCormick Street Blaze

Fire Companies from Ridley Park, Prospect Park, Tinicum, and Norwood responded this afternoon to a house fire in the 100 block of McCormick Street. The residents, who were home at the time, were able to safely exit the home and evacuate their pets to a neighbor before RPPD and RPFC arrived on scene.

The property suffered smoke and water damages and the… Continue

Wreck Chasers

Just a note to friends of mine and Joe Frantz's that he has a new T.V. Gig. He is the cinematographer on a new show called Wreck Chasers. It's on Discovery channel on Monday 8:P.M. and again at 11:00. It's a reality show from Phila. that shows the life of tow truck drivers on streets of Phila. Some interesting characters appear. He also writes some of the material. Those of you who knew Frantz from Ridley High (class of 89) will especially appreciate Frantz's filming. There have been a few time… Continue

Getting back to Ridley Park: on time

I'm just back from traveling and I'm still in the midst of handling my jet lag. In some part, telling you have jet lag means you secretly want your listener to know you've been someplace far away and mysterious, or that you have done something so adventurous that you can't help yourself with your desynchronosis; in other words, you have jet-lag and any… Continue

Veterans Day November 11,2010

I would like to thank all the veterans for what they have done for our country. I am also a veteran, having served overseas. Nobody gave us us this title veteran, it has to be earned. If you know someone that is a veteran, tell them thank-you. For our surviving World War 2 veterans this gesture is what they want to hear today.
