Ridley Park's Online Digital Community
Had very few trick or treaters come down our street again, not unusual. We did have two odd ones though around 8:45pm. A woman and man both wearing street clothes and just masks came to my door. At first I thought they were teenagers until the woman asked how many pieces of candy I was giving to kids. I asked her how old she was while closely watching the shady man who was with her. They quickly rushed off of my porch. They proceeded to walk up to my neighbors front doors but did not…

In the wake of Hetzel Park area residents continued complaints and concerns about a lighted billboard in their neighborhood that overlooks Interstate 95, council voted Tuesday night to appoint a special counsel to handle the sign issue. The billboard is allowed in the borough as a result of a federal court judge’s mandate that billboards cannot be restricted. There has been several years of litigation involving the billboard. This story is filed by correspondent…

I'm finding it astounding that Ridley Park is not alone in our plight against billboard pollution; in particular the lighted ones.
The scenes from town hall meetings and city council meetings across America are identical to Ridley Park's; heated,…

Communities around the country increasingly are in fights over digital billboards: glaring, changeable roadside signs that visually scream for attention.
Critics, such as the conservation group Scenic America, call them "TV on a stick" that distract drivers, disfigure the landscape and disturb the…

On Tuesday night at the council meeting, the residents of Hetzel Park witnessed what happens when a majority of councilors chose their political party's interest over the interest of the residents who elected the council to be their voice. We all know that a serious mistake and failure happened in March of 2011 when we the council, re-zoned the portion of Hetzel Park to Commercial in order to place the billboard on borough property.
We enabled a few of the "so called"…

Reasonable person standard in contract law – how would a resident have known that I-95 was also known as Hetzel Park. Please stop saying we should have known where the sign was being erected.
Town Talk 09/30/11

What a complete and despicable Work Shop meeting transpired last night at Borough Hall. Council President Bob Berger read a statement by the solicitor basically saying that NOTHING will be done to stop the billboard from being installed and turned on. The solicitor bailed out and hid from the residents just like Bob Boland, the negotiator and creator of the billboard debacle, has done. The PUPPET council members that support this "do nothing" attitude divert and dodge answers to…

There was an overflow crowd in Borough Hall last night as residents once again asked questions and looked for answers about how to bring down the billboard in Hetzel Park. The meeting last night was the Borough's monthly "workshop meeting" where there's rarely a crowd and Council Members (CM's) have a chance to informally discuss old business, any…
