This post will trail my journey as an emerging author in this community. Right now, my book Dancing Trees (children's picture book) is in the editing and layout phase(s). My hope is that with the support from all of you - this book will be available to children; not just in our community, but all over. Though, I realize that I cannot do this without your help. Once a galley copy is complete, I will begin getting myself and the book 'out there' in Ridley Park. More to come on… Continue

Wal-Mart truck driver Mark Silva continued a tradition last week that began nine years ago when he drove his big rig from his home in California to visit with his sixth-grade pen pals at Ridley Middle School.
He was paired up with the middle school through the efforts of
sixth-grade teacher Heidi Moore. Moore uses the post cards Silva
sends from the places he visits as he travels around the western and
southwestern part of the country, as well as other correspondence he… Continue

Retired police officer Bobby Moore's funeral was yesterday. I was glad to see Ridley Park officers at the viewing and funeral. There was a police escort to the cemetery. What was especially moving was seeing the police of all the towns between Ridley Park and the cemetery in Marcus Hook (or in that vicinity) blocking intersections with their cars. That was a fine tribute to a man who deserved it. We'll all miss you Bobby.

We've got a deepfreeze up for grabs. It's 26 years old, still works, chest-type, 8 cubic feet and has served us well. But we got an upgrade and this one must go. Be in touch - but be advised you will need several guys to get this out of our basement.

2008 to 2009 Struggle to Remain Solvent
To recover from the dire circumstances faced in 2008 and 2009 required the following extraordinary financial management efforts and luck.
The first priority for use of the remainder of the Tax Anticipation Note that was issued and largely spent by the previous council in the first week of 2008 was to meet payroll. Second priority was to pay critical operating… Continue

It's a shame that scare tactics don't work when you are correctly informed as to where your tax dollars are being spent. Off the top of my head I believe that non sufficient funds, covered overdraft, and bounced check are really the same thing. It means the money ain't there. Or Howard am I wrong? Continue
