Wawa now Open!!!

Hi everyone,

If you didn't notice but our new Wawa is now open!  I spoked in there today with my little girl, the place was so nice, big and very well organized, now more bumping into each other to get coffee or a drink. And I would like to also add the property looks so peaceful and nice in the back. A better eye view then an eye sore. Wonder if other RP residances felt the same???

Mary Duff and Bob Nilon

Mary Duff lost her father, a Minneapolis Fire Battalion Chief, when he received massive smoke inhalation during a rescue mission of his men.  Bob Nilon was playing professional hockey with the Minneapolis Millers when they met. They married in 1943 while Bob was serving in the US Army. A First Lieutenant, he was…

Suggestions???

looking for a place where I can have about 25 people to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my mom passing. I wanted to get my family and friends together to remember what a wonderful person my mom was and is.

Anyway you may suggest to hold this? I was thinking of out doors/buffett, money is tight but still wanted to have it somewhere. I would need tables and chairs or picnic tables to have a place to enjoy food. Local to delaware county, but if something close outside, please…

Hey Ridley Park, step up the recycling!

I took a walk in the 3rd precinct this morning and was dismayed at how many trash cans and bags included items that should be recycled instead - clear-cut things like cardboard boxes and empty bottles.

Let's step it up!  Put those items out on the right day, don't be lazy and include them with your trash!

Playing poker with Bob Berger and Ridley Park's Sellers Avenue Bridge

For the short time I've known Bob Berger, his smiling grin and dimples haven't given away the cards he's holding close to his chest.  That wasn't the case at May's Borough Council meeting when the leader of Ridley Park's Borough Council laid-out his cards on the table and said he was "going on the attack"…

Let mom's do what mom's do best

It's Mother's Day Sunday and that special day once a year, where moms get to collect all the attention and do all she wants, wasn't the reason why a series of moms started mother's day in the first place.

For a millennium moms everywhere had been losing their sons in battle, but it wasn't until the author of The Battle Hymn of the Republic thought-up Mother's Day…

Vegetable garden

Have you planted your vegetables yet?  This weekend I plan to finally get my tomatoes into the ground, along with Swiss chard, basil, and zinnia plants.  Grew them from seed and proud I am!

What's in your veggie garden?

Election Day Photo ID Requirement

It hardly seems as if six months have passed since we were standing inside the blue curtained booth of an election machine, but so it goes in Pennsylvania where there's an election every six months.

This time around, the April 24 Primary Election is a "dry run" for the biggest change to hit…

Thank You to the Mayor

I would just like to take this moment to thank the Mayor for reflecting on our lost brothers from the Philadelphia Fire Dept. at the Council Meeting.  A few of us traveled up to Engine 7 in Philly the night they passed.  We talked to the brave men of that station as well as met the Mayor of Philadelphia.  These men died protecting the City! So please keep them in your thoughts and prayers, as well as the brave men and women of the Ridley Park FC, who VOLUNTEER their time to serve and protect…

Ken Harper running in Ridley Park election

I didn't realize until today that Ken Harper was running for election.  Ken has been a great help to me.  I found myself in a situation with an unreasonable neighbor.  Ken so believed that I was right that he actually went to court with me.  I wrote a follow up letter to the borough letting them know how thankful I was for Ken's support, but I never received a response.  Also, during the last hurricane, Ken was on our street as soon as I called him.  While all the neighbors were busy making…

Delaware County’s largest employer, Crozer-Keystone Health System, announced it will eliminate up to 400 positions, as a result of various factors stemming from the current economic climate, system officials said Wednesday.
