We will address our concerns about the proposed move of 3 metal junk yards relocating into our community. Our primary issues deal with the environmental hazards associated with metal shredding, pollution emitted (pm2.5) from the 400+ tractor trailers that will enter our Borough via 291 & Chester Pike on a daily basis, the very realistic threat of a fire (their last fire originated at their facility in SE Philly but the smoke & smog reached NE Philly), the increased metal thefts that are to be expected when such a facility is nearby.
We have a short Power Point presentation to share with all of our neighboring Communities. We recently hosted a similar event for Rep. Kirkland, Sen. Pileggi's Chief of Staff, David Woods, 3 members of the DEP, the Senior Toxicologist from the EPA, Rev. Rocky Brown & Rev. Strand both of whom are from the Environmental Justice Board. Based upon our presentation, we were invited to Harrisburg last week to present to the Advisory Boards for the DEP.

On a side note, the money for this move is coming from tax payers...Gov. Rendell is pushing the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority to release $31 million to this company for port redevelopment here in Eddystone. I question the Governor's choice to squander away such a massive amount of money to simply move a company less than 10 miles down the river. Please call him and voice your displeasure over his poor choice.

We anticipate a similar turn-out for this event. Please consider standing by us & we fight to keep Delaware County free from such hazardous industry.

There is no fence high enough to keep the pollution out of Eddystone or our surrounding communities.
