Ridley Park's Online Digital Community
A group of library fans and book-loving Ridley Park residents has reactivated the Friends of the Ridley Park Public Library, which had fallen dormant in recent years.
In a brainstorming meeting in late May, library supporters gathered at the Park House Café to generate ideas for the Friends of the Library. Many of those who attended the brainstorming session attended a follow up meeting on July 27, where the group voted to form the Friends of the Ridley Park Public Library and elected Linda Hosbach president and Loretta Ireland treasurer.
In response to a motion by Pat Reuss, the Friends also voted to set the suggested contribution to the Friends of the Ridley Park Library at $10 per individual and $15 per family. In the past, the Friends asked for an individual contribution of $5 and a family contribution of $10, a level Reuss viewed as “too low.” The group unanimously agreed.
At the July 27 meeting, Ridley Parkers also discussed the feasibility of the ideas generated at the May meeting and chose those they would like to pursue in 2010-2011—a theater night, an ice cream fundraising event, a book and bake sale, and a book club.
