Ridley Park's Online Digital Community
Managing Municipal Trees
This free webinar explores the role and function of municipal tree commissions and street tree ordinances.
July 15, 2014, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Planning and managing community trees and green infrastructure can help any municipality safely take advantage of the wealth of benefits these assets provide. In Pennsylvania, volunteer tree commissions are appointed and are given “custody and control” of the street trees. Well-designed tree ordinances ensure fair and consistent management and protection of the public’s investment in their community forest. Without functioning tree commissions and street tree ordinances, a community’s tree may quickly be destroyed or removed without any consideration of their value or their replacement.
Presented by Bill Elmendorf, Associate Professor of Community and Urban Forestry, Penn State Department of Ecosystem Science and Management.
How to attend the webinars
Sorry about the late posting. That and the time delay to have it approved pushed it past the time to participate. I did listen in. It is a very informative presentation and will be available for review online. I'll post other webinar info as it becomes available.
Also, several links to Tree Care and Urban Forestry were listed at this webinar. If anyone needs more info, just ask.
I hope in the future to see other Shade Tree Commission members from Ridley Park in attendance. There were over 80 participants from all over PA and beyond.
